The PDRM82 (Geiger Counter) is fitted to the Fixed Survey Meter Rod which is then inserted up into Fixed Survey Meter Pipe. It travels up through the roof of the Bunker into the top half of the pipe which is fitted with the Fixed Survey Meter Dome. The information is transmitted down the coaxial cable. This allows the taking of Fallout Data without having the crew to go above ground.
